 Chicken Broth

Hi Everyone,
I'm a newbie, and will be starting P2 on Thursday. I've seen some P2 recipes that call for chicken broth. Does anyone else use chicken broth? Which kind do you use? Do you make your own? I was confused because the chicken broth I found had maltodexrin in it.

You've got to watch out for sodium (and even sugar!) in canned broth. You might be able to find some organic low-sodium broth, but you have to be a label reader!

My clinic suggests that I make my own by boiling chicken. I had problems losing during my last HCG round, and broth was identified as one of the possible causes -- until we found out my thyroid was out of whack. Broth may not have been the cause, but just the same, read labels and be careful! I'm not sure what effect the maltodextrin might have.

For sure....read your labels. I buy an organic low sodium chicken broth that comes in a resealable carton. Usually you are not using a lot, but it gives a lot of extra flavor for very little calories (I think mine says 5 calories for 1 cup).
