I'm eating chicken fajitas today with no tortilla obviously or sour cream, cheese, guacamole, etc. Basically its black peppered chicken with steamed red and green bell peppers and some onions. Anyone else eat onions and peppers on p2?

Try is and see. I would choose onion powder over the onion slices, only because that is mixing two veggies. Then add garlic and a little cayenne or red pepper flakes to "heat" it up!

Sounds good!

I checked the original protocol and it said onions are allowed but doesn't mention bell peppers. I guess we'll see what happens. Thanks birdlady

Be careful with the bell peppers. They are high in carbs, which we don't measure, but I noticed it matters. I don't think they are on Dr. S. protocol. I might be wrong. Onions are great. Saute them in a little fat free chicken broth for added flavor. YUM!!!

Okay, so this is what I found out about the bell pepper...

Serving Size- 1 whole green bell pepper

Calories 33

Total Fat 0.3g
Saturated Fat 0g
Trans Fat 0g

Sodium 4.9mg
Potassium 287mg

Total Carbohydrate 7.6g
Dietary Fiber 2.8g
Sugars 3.9g
Protein 1.4g

Now the results for an onion:
Serving Size: 1 cup
Calories 64

Total Fat 0.16g
Saturated Fat 0.07g
Monounsaturated Fat 0.02g
Polyunsaturated Fat 0.03g
Trans Fat 0g
Cholesterol 0mg
Sodium 6mg
Potassium 234mg
Total Carbohydrate 14.94g
Dietary Fiber 2.7g
Sugars 6.78g
Protein 1.76g

I guess the bell peppers look like they're in some way a little better than an onion.... We'll see what the scale says about it tomorrow. giggle

I gained a slight amount, but I'm not sure if it was due to the peppers. I attributed the slight weight gain to TOM

I love green and red peppers, but on P2 I cannot have them. My weight usually stalls out. (It doesn't take much for it to do that! ) In fact, even onions cause my weight to stall. I love onions, but I have them sparingly on P2. But, that is just me.

I'm on P2 and have onions in my tuna with mustard nearly every day and continue to lose weight. Its really how your body reacts to it; the key is to monitor your weight after trying it and to only try 1 new item at a time. Of course you can stay with the protocol and not try it at all. dunno
