PostSubject: just veggies and protein   Fri Jan 08 2010, 02:34

Evening all,

Can I get some past experiences with not following protocol in full? I am wanting to try to just do protein and veggies--omit the fruit and melba --for a few days. Thought I would make up the calories in veggies.

Also--what do you all do about diet coke, etc. I see in various places that we can't have it--but my clinic guidelines say that I can?? Also has a longer veggie list that I have been using and haven't noticed any consequence of using zucchini and yellow squash.

Thanks!
Amy

Hi and welcome!

For the most part, I eat mainly protein and veggies. I will add a grapefruit on occasion. Try to increase your protein over the veggies. But, that can be a personal preferance.

Diet colas are OK.

As for other veggies, I prefer to stay with Dr S list of foods.

If you are using hcg thru a clinic, then I would follow their guidelines.

Thank you! So you primarily eat 500 cals per meal made up of more protein than veggies?

Hi, Amy!

I follow a doctor-supervised plan through a clinic also. Sometimes the clinics offer a plan that varies in minor ways from the originally developed protocol. I am trying to follow strictly what my clinic says for now, but making mental notes for the various ways others are having success.

My clinic bans soda pop, diet and otherwise, but they recommend adding stevia and lime juice to club soda. Makes a great diet Sprite! If I have a carbonated beverage during any given day, I will crave pop the rest of that day. So I have really not missed pop, especially since I'm trying to push a gallon of water daily! (I can substitute a cup of coffee and a little tea for some of the water. The original protocol does not limit tea or coffee at all.)

I don't have any experience omitting fruit or melba, although I just save the melbas for an occasional snack,...maybe once every week or two. It's not something I crave. But Wendy is right -- the first priority is to get your protein in daily; 3.5oz twice a day. This diet is designed to keep you barely above protein deficiency, for one thing. Also, shorting yourself on protein can make you retain water.

Hope I covered your questions!

Karen

Many have found they lose better without the melba, and omit it completey (I've never used it). Others also have found to lose better without the fruit, however, the diet is already so limited most keep it in, which is TOTALLY fine way to go
If anything, make SURE you get all your protein in, if not just a bit more ~
